Georgetown University is a private Catholic university located in the Washington, D.C., neighborhood of Georgetown.

History
In 1789, Reverend John Carroll established Georgetown University (initially named Georgetown College) along the Potomac River. It was a pivotal time for a school to be founded as the nation enacted the U.S. Constitution that same year. The school's first student body was comprised of 12 students.
Today, over 14,000 students utilize Georgetown's law school, medical school, four undergraduate schools and numerous graduate programs.Georgetown University: History
