  • Early Years

    Like many young Canadians, Laraque first played in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League in 1993. He was drafted 31st overall in the 1995 NHL Draft by the Edmonton Oilers. Laraque continued to play in the QMJHL through the 1995-96 season, helping the Granby Predateurs win the championship, the Memorial Cup. He then spent most of his next three seasons with the Oilers' American Hockey League affiliate, the Hamilton Bulldogs, making his NHL debut with the Oilers in 1997.
  • Recent Years

    In 2003 Laraque was given the 'Best Fighter' award from The Hockey News. Laraque played with the Allmanna Idrottsklubben in Sweden during the 2004-05 NHL Lockout. After returning from the lockout, Laraque played one more season in Edmonton then signed as a free agent with the Phoenix Coyotes on July 5, 2006. Most recently, Laraque was traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins on February 27, 2007.
