  • George Sherrill is a left-handed pitcher for Baltimore Orioles. After graduating from Austin Peay University, Sherrill spent two years playing minor league ball in the Northern League. In 2003 the Seattle Mariners purchased Sherrill's contract, and assigned him to their Double-A affiliate San Antonio Missions. The next year Sherrill pitched for the Mariners Triple-A affiliate Takoma Rainiers. Sherrill made his MLB debut on July 16, 2004 against the Cleveland Indians in a loss. After four seasons in Seattle, the Mariners traded Sherrill to the Orioles in a deal for Erik Bedard. An injury to Chris Ray gave Sherill the opportunity to start the 2008 season as the Orioles closer.
  • Strengths

Using his solid fastball and slider, Sherrill is tough on left-haded batters.[1]
  • Weaknesses

Sherrill sometimes struggles against righties. His change-up leaves something to be desired, and his conditioning is questionable.[1]
