The GeoEye-1 satellite successfully sent its first image back to Earth a month after it was launched into orbit. The satellite is operated by GeoEye Inc. and will collect images for the government's National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency as well as Google. GeoEye's COO says the company has performed 7 collision avoidance maneuvers of its Ikonos satellite and 4 of its newer GeoEye 1 satellite.
