  Genie Francis was only 14 years old when she first started playing Laura Webber on General Hospital. Her small part grew when producers angled for more younger viewers by placing her front and center in a romance with Scotty. Laura and Scotty married, but their relationship would be overshadowed by the shocking one she would have with Luke Spencer, played by Anthony Geary, who raped her. Luke and Laura subsequently fell in love and married while 30 million people watched. She would play the role off and on until 2006. Francis won a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series in 2007.
