Geni is a web-based genealogy service that allows users to create an interactive and editable family tree. The company was founded in by David Sacks and Alan Braverman in 2006, and launched in January 2007 (in beta). It developed the product Yammer which ultimately won Best in Show at TechCrunch50.
The Founder
David Sacks graduated with his bachelor's degree from Stanford and went on to pursue his J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School. After graduation, Sacks made his name as the Chief Operating Officer of PayPal. Sacks' other projects include the film and television adaptation of Thank You for Smoking and Geni's sister organization Yammer.
