In a move to take advantage of the expanding rebate program aimed toward Canadian buyers, GM is joining three other U.S. automakers: Ford, Chrysler, and Hyundai. GM announced on September 16, 2009, that it would enhance the Canadian government's "Retire Your Ride" initiative by offering up to $3,000 for Canadian clunkers, thus echoing the popular Cash for Clunkers program in the U.S.[1]
