Right Rev. V. Gene Robinson is the Episcopal bishop of the Diocese of New Hampshire, and is openly gay. Robinson was chosen to give the invocation at the January 18, 2009, opening ceremony of the Inauguration Week festivities. It was announced that Bishop Robinson would deliver the prayer about a month after it was reported that Pastor Rick Warren, who supported the California gay marriage ban, Prop 8, would deliver the invocation at Obama's inauguration ceremony.

Today's broadcast will also include Robinson's opening prayer, which controversially, HBO did not air yesterday.
