Anti-Islamic Views
On February 27, 2008, Wilders released Fitna, a short film discussing his negative views of Islam and the Qu'ran. Fitna attracted considerable controversy. On April 1, 2008, Geert Wilders' office announced that the film would be edited to remove copyrighted material used without the consent of its owner. Wilders has tried to have the Qu'ran banned in the Netherlands, stating "the book incites hatred and killing and therefore has no place in our legal order." Geert Wilders Quotes
- "Take a walk down the street and see where this is going. You no longer feel like you are living in your own country. There is a battle going on and we have to defend ourselves. Before you know it there will be more mosques than churches!"
- [It is up to] "Muslims themselves to tear out the hateful verses of the Quran. Muslims want you to make way for Islam, but Islam does not make way for you... stop Islamization, defend our freedom."
