Examples of the "blood and gore" include:

• Shotgun blasts which tear the heads off your enemies
• Pistol injuries cause tears in enemies flesh, which causes a spray of crimson blood
• The chainsaw weapon causes enemies blood to splatter on the screen and obscure the view for a few seconds

Gears of War is a third person shooter/tactical shooter, science fiction/horror themed game. The aliens have some similarities to the creatures from the Aliens films starring Sigourney Weaver.

The ultimate goal of Gears of War is to activate a resonator that will map out the Locust Horde's underground tunnel structure. Once a map is created a strategic bomb strike will be used to wipe out the alien army from the core of their subterranean base.

In the multi player game, players typically fight in teams of four. The weapons available are just the same as in the single player mode.

When using Xbox Live chat is supported. Players will be able to hear and should be prepared to hear the unmoderated thoughts of other players.
