• March 12, 2009: Epic Games announced the Snowblind Map Pack, a winter-themed set of four multiplayer maps for the popular first-person shooter Gears of War 2 for the Xbox 360. The map pack can be purchased and downloaded from the Xbox Live Marketplace beginning March 31, 2009.

• Title Update 3

  The Snowblind Map Pack is scheduled for release one week after the March 24, 2009 Title Update 3. The update includes:

  1. Adds 100 levels of player experience based on Public match scores
  2. Adds experience penalty when players quit prior to completing a match
  3. Bots automatically added to Public Matches when teams become imbalanced when a player quits
  4. Optimizes playlists to only have two modes per playlist. Ties are decided by random selection.
  5. Adds ability for teams to communicate between Private Match rounds
  6. Ability to save Public and Private Horde high scores after each complete wave
  7. Select region preference to matchmaking
  8. Adds nine new achievements worth 250 points.
     1. Progress towards these new achievements begins after the update is applied.
     2. Six of the new achievements require installation of the Snowblind Map Pack

• About the Game

  Marcus Fenix returns in this sequel to 2006's Gears of War. The story begins six months after the detonation of the Lightmass Bomb that occurred at the end of GoW. Marcus and the remaining COG forces are all the remains between the Locust Horde and the destruction of humanity.

  The enemy Locust have found a way to make gigantic emergence holes that can sink entire cities. The humans have created a drilling device that will allow them to take the fight to the enemy's underground lair, called The Hollow.
