The game alone retails for $59.99, but for an additional $10 customers can also receive a number of special bonuses in the limited edition. The extras include a 48-page hardcover book entitled Beneath the Surface: An Inside Look at Gears of War 2, a DVD containing various promotional videos, a documentary featurette and commentary by the developers, and an exclusive gold-plated Lancer Assault Rifle that can be equipped during online play. About the Game
Gears of War 2 takes place six months after the successful detonation of the Lightmass bomb at the end of the first game. Although most of the Locust horde was destroyed, it wasn't long before more cities started to disappear underground. When one of the last remaining human establishments—known as the Jacinto Plateau—also begins displaying the same tell-tale signs that led to the destruction of the other cities, the COG launch a major offensive in an effort to thwart the Locusts before they can take it under.-
