Story
Gears of War 2 begins six months after the detonation of the Lightmass Bomb at the end of Gears of War. In addition to the destruction of most of the Locust Hord, the explosion caused much of the liquid Imulsion underground to vaporize. This has caused "Rust Lung" to spread among the remaining human population. To stop the fall of the Jacinto Plateau, one of the last remaining human strongholds, Marcus Fenix, Dominic Santiago, and a new Delta Squad spearhead a counterattack against the enemy Locusts -
Gameplay
Information interviews with the developers indicate a deeper story with new characters, new weapons, and new enemies. The promotional video shared at the 2008 Game Developers Conference demonstrated a player's ability to duel with an AI or human opponent when both use the chainsaw attachment of the Lancer. The basic core elements of the game remain the same, with a continuing emphasis on using cover rather than "run and gun" style gameplay. -
