    1. Achievements in Gears of War 2 can be broken down into two categories: campaign and competitive multiplayer. Some achievements can be earned in either mode and will be noted as such.

    Complete one campaign chapter on any difficulty in co-op play.

  • Open Relationship

    Points: 30
    Complete 10 campaign chapters on any difficulty in co-op play.

  • Friends with Benefits

    Points: 50
    Complete the game on any difficulty on co-op play.

  • Collector

    Points: 5
    Find five of the game's 41 collectibles.

  • Pack Rat

    Points: 15
    Find 20 of the game's 41 collectibles.

  • Completionist

    Points: 30
    Find all 41 of the game's collectibles.

  • Once More, With Feeling

    Points: 10
    Available in all game types.
    Accomplish 30 active reloads.

  • Takes a Licking

    Points: 30
    Available through Campaign or Horde modes.
    Melee 30 Locust tickers.

  • Back to Basic

    Points: 10
    Complete the Training Grounds option from the main menu.

  • Variety is the Spice of Death

    Points: 30
    Available in all game types.
    Kill an enemy with every one of the game's 14 weapons.
    1. You should get this achievement by completing the game. Use every weapon you come across.
    2. Weapons include:
    Pistol
    Shotgun
    Lancer
    Hammerburst Rifle
    Boltok Pistol
    Gorgon Pistol
    Frag grenade
    Ink grenade
    Scorcher flamethrower
    Longshot sniper rifle
    Torque Bow
    Mulcher
    Boomshot
    Mortar

  • Kick 'Em When They're Down

    Points: 10
    Available in all game types.
    Perform all 11 unique executions. Complete these with the lightweight weapons (not the Mortar, Mulcher, ink or frag grenades) by pressing Y and B when an enemy is down and crawling. Also curb stomp an enemy with the X Button.

  • Crossing Swords

    Points: 10
    Available in all game types.
    Win 10 chainsaw duels. Activate these by attempting to chainsaw an enemy that is carrying a Lancer. If the enemy attempts to chainsaw you at the same time, you'll enter a chainsaw duel. Rapidly hit the B Button to win the duel.

  • Said the Spider to the Fly

    Points: 10
    Available in all game types.
    Kill 10 enemies with planted grenades. You can plant grenades on most any surface by holding a grenade and hitting the B Button. The grenade then acts like a proximity mine that explodes as enemies come nearby.

  • Pound of Flesh

    Points: 10
    Available in all game types.
    Use a meatshield to save your life 10 times. You can grab a downed enemy to be a meatshield by standing over the crawling enemy and hitting the A Button.

  • Organ Grinder

    Points: 10
    Available in all game types.
    Kill 30 enemies with a cover-mounted Mulcher. You have to kill enemies with the chain gun while you're in cover, putting the gun overtop of the cover. Using the Mulcher outside of cover does not affect the achievement.

  • Shock and Awe

    Points: 10
    Available in all game types.
    Kill 30 enemies with the mortar. There are plenty of opportunities to use the mortar throughout the campaign that will net you a serious number of kills for this achievement.

  • Smells Like Victory

    Points: 10
    Available in all game types.
    Kill 30 enemies with the Scorcher flamethrower. This is another achievement that's very easy to get long before the end of the game.

  • Crowd Control

    Points: 10
    Available in all game types.
    While holding the Boomshield, which is the shield carried by the big mauler Locust enemies, melee down 10 enemies.

  • A Parting Gift

    Points: 20
    Available in all game types.
    Kill 10 enemies with a grenade when downed, but before you're killed. You can do this by holding a grenade before you're taken out, then hit the Right Bumper to explode the grenade to kill anyone who's nearby.

  • Seriously 2.0

    Points: 50
    Available in all game types.
    Kill 100,000 enemies of any kind.

  • Competitive Multiplayer

    1. The following achievements in either multiplayer death match games, or in the Horde mode.

  • Dirty, Dirty Horde

    Points: 20
    Available in Horde mode only.
    Beat the first 10 levels of Horde mode on any difficulty with any number of teammates.

  • Hoard the Horde

    Points: 30
    Available in Horde mode only.
    Beat all 50 levels of Horde mode on any difficulty with any number of teammates. You can complete this achievement by using the Private Party function to play whatever levels you haven't completed. For example, if you play levels 1 through 20 in one sitting, you can return and finish 21 through 50 on another playthrough and still get the achievement.

  • Photojournalist

    Points: 10
    Submit a spectator photo.
    1. You can take a photo only when you've been killed and are in spectator mode. It doesn't matter what the photo is of or when it's taken.
    2. Press B while in spectator mode to snap the photo. This saves the photo to your hard drive.
    3. After the battle, return to the game's Main Menu. Go into the War Journal and select Photos.
    4. Find your photo and press the Y Button to upload it and unlock your achievement.

  • Standing Here, Beside Myself

    Points: 10
    Available only in the Wingman game type.
    Win three Wingman matches. The Wingman game type sets you and one other teammate against four other teams of two. The first team to reach 15 kills wins the game.

  • Beat the Meatflag

    Points: 10
    Available only in the Submission game type.
    Rack up a total of 10 Meatflag captures in all your Submission games.

  • It's Good to be the King

    Points: 10
    Available only in the Guardian game type.
    Win 10 rounds of Guardian as the leader. You're appointed leader by killing the other team's leader in the previous round.

  • You Go Ahead, I'll Be Fine

    Points: 10
    Available only in the King of the Hill game type.
    Win three rounds of King of the Hill. Do so by capturing a certain location and defending it to rack up time. The team that reaches a certain amount of time first wins.

  • Party Like It's 1999

    Points: 30
    Available in competitive multiplayer (not Horde).
    Play 1,999 rounds of any kind of multiplayer, excluding Horde and co-op.

  • Around the World, Again

    Points: 30
    Available in competitive multiplayer (not Horde).
    Win one multiplayer match (not round) on every multiplayer map.

  • Unlockables

    1. The following items and game modes are available only by completing certain requirements.
    2. Most of the game's unlockables can be accessed by completing the campaign on any difficulty.
    3. Some of the unlockables, however, require earning certain Achievements from the original Gears of War.

  • Insane Difficulty

    Unlocked by completing the campaign mode on any difficulty setting.

  • Character: "Dizzy Wallin"

    Opens a character model for use in competitive multiplayer and Horde modes.
    Unlocked by completing Act 1, any difficulty.

  • Character: "Kantus"

    Opens a character model for use in competitive multiplayer and Horde modes.
    Unlocked by completing Act 2, any difficulty.

  • Character: "Tai Kaliso"

    Opens a character model for use in competitive multiplayer and Horde modes.
    Unlocked by completing Act 3, any difficulty.

  • Character: "Flame Grenadier"

    Opens a character model for use in competitive multiplayer and Horde modes.
    Unlocked by completing Act 4, any difficulty.

  • Character: "Skorge"

    Opens a character model for use in competitive multiplayer and Horde modes.
    Unlocked by completing Act 5, any difficulty.

  • Character: "Anthony Carmine"

    Opens a character model for use in competitive multiplayer and Horde modes.
    Unlocked by earning any of the Act 1 Achievements available in the original Gears of War.

  • Character: RAAM"

    Opens a character model for use in competitive multiplayer and Horde modes.
    Unlocked by earning the A Dish Best Served Cold Achievement available in the original Gears of War.

  • Character: "Lt. Minh Young Kim"

    Opens a character model for use in competitive multiplayer and Horde modes.
    Unlocked by earning the Time to Remember Achievement available in the original Gears of War.
