Gayle Haggard is the wife of former pastor Ted Haggard, of the New Life Church in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Gayle was forced to step down from her leadership role in the church after her husband was accused of having a homosexual affair with male prostitute Mike Jones in 2006. The couple later taped an an episode of Divorce Court to talk about the fallout and reconciliation of their marriage after the event.

When the Haggards left the New Life Church in 2006, Ted issued an apology to the congregation. On November 5, 2006, Ted wrote that he was guilty of "sexual immorality" and referred to himself as a "deceiver and a liar." Gayle also wrote a letter to the church which read, "I would not change one iota of what I have been teaching the women of our church.
