Gavin Newsom has been the mayor of San Francisco since 2004. During the November 2010 midterm elections, Newsom won his election bid for lieutenant governor in California. Before becoming mayor, Newsom started a company called PlumpJack Associates L.P. Newsom's first job in politics was under Willie Lewis Brown, Jr., who appointed him to a vacant seat on the Parking and Traffic Commission for the city.

Terry Childs Incident
