  • Early Years

    Floyd graduated from Mount Saint Joseph High School and was ranked by Baseball America as the cecond-closest to the Majors as well has having the breaking ball among high school pitchers. Both Floyd and his brother Michael were selected in the 2001 MLB amateur draft.

    Floyd was named the number one prospect in the Philadelphia Phillies organization prior to his first professional season in 2003. During that season Floyd was named a Florida State League All-Star. In 2004, he made his Major League Baseball debut, winning the game. Floyd finished with two wins and zero losses for the Philadelphia Phillies in 2004 and the team had five wins and one loss in the games that Floyd pitched in.

  • Recent Career

    Prior to the 2005 season, Floyd was named the number two prospect in the Philadelphia Phillies organization by Baseball America and made the opening day roster. On September 4, 2005, Floyd struck out a career-best six batters against the Washington Nationals and then again on September 13 against the Atlanta Braves. On May 5, 2006, Floyd threw his first career shutout against the New York Mets in a five inning rain shortened game. During the fall of that year Floyd pitched for Peoria of the Arizona Fall League.

    On December 16, 2006 he was traded to the Chicago White Sox for Freddy Garcia. In 2007, Floyd pitched in 16 games for the Chicago White Sox with the team winning three of the ten games he started. Floyd set a career-high of seven strikeouts in a game on September 23 against the Minnesota Twins. He started the 2008 season on the Chicago White Sox roster and was expected to be the teams number five starter in the rotation.
