Gary Vaynerchuk

  • Gary Vaynerchuk AKA Garyvee is an internet entrepreneur, the host of Wine Library TV and the Director of Operations at Wine Library in Springfield, New Jersey. Gary is also described as a social media advocate, marketing guru, and passionate business aficionado. His style is upbeat and hyper-kinetic, but non-snobbish, in sharp contrast to traditional wine critics, and his project has worked hard to build consumer loyalty by including them in the process.Forbes: The Whine Critics (April 26, 2009) In 2009, Gary signed a 7-figure book deal with HarperStudio.
  • Background

Growing up with parents who owned a liquor store, Gary Vaynerchuk began to educate himself by reading Wine Spectator and Wine Advocate magazines. Unable to drink because of being under age, he educated his palate by tasting a variety of obscure things that influence the taste of wine, to include rocks, grass and even tobacco.

Taking the weekends in college to help run the family business, Vaynerchuk helped grow the store by helping the customers understand wine. His basic premise is that good tasting wine doesn't have to be expensive. He contends that price is not an indicator of quality.

In 2006, Vaynerchuk started winelibrarytv.com, part social networking site centered around wine appreciation site. He provides a high-energy daily video blog, describing wines and how to find them, taste them and decide for yourself.
