Doctors diagnosed the injury as a fracture of a cervical vertebra, but did not perform surgery.     After being red-shirted in 2004, Rogers made his college football debut in 2005, playing three games with the Cougars. During his sophomore season in 2006, Rogers played in all 12 of the school's games, completing 18 of 31 attempted passes and scoring three touchdowns.
