Country singer Garth Brooks began performing a series of weekend concerts at the Wynn resort and casino in Las Vegas, Nevada in December 2009, as part of an extended engagement. On October 15, 2009, Garth Brooks announced he was ending his nearly nine year retirement from performing. At press conferences held in Nashville, Tennessee, and, later in the day, Las Vegas, Nevada, Brooks said he would perform 16 weeks worth of concerts.
