As one of the first country performers to incorporate elements of Pop into the traditional country formula, Brooks dominated the 1990s music scene, producing a number of best-selling singles, albums and tours and winning countless awards. Although Brooks announced that he was officially retiring from recording and performing in 2001, he has continued to sell millions of albums each year.
