Career
Garrison Keillor began his radio broadcasting career in 1969 as the morning drive-time personality at what would become Minnesota Public Radio. He resigned briefly in 1971, only to return after several months to launch A Prairie Home Companion. Except for a hiatus from 1987 - 1993, the show has run weekly since it debuted.
Keillor has been a successful essayist, columnist, journalist, and novelist for nearly as long as he's been a radio personality. He has written for The New Yorker, The Atlantic Monthly, and Salon.com. He starred in and wrote the screenplay for Robert Altman's last film, A Prairie Home Companion.
