Gardens of Stone is a war drama written by Ronald Bass and directed by Francis Ford Coppola. It was released on May 8, 1987. The movie is set during the Vietnam War and stars James Caan as Sergeant Clell Hazard. D.B. Sweeney plays private Jackie Willow, who wants to go to war for his country, a completely opposite view of Hazard's, who believes the United States should withdraw from the war.
Plot Synopsis
Gardens of Stone tells the story of Sergeant Clell Hazard (James Caan), who believes the United States should withdraw from the Vietnam War. Private Jackie Willow's opinion of the war is contrary to that of Hazard's and he wants to go to war for his country. Hazard tries to get Willow to change his mind by encouraging him to get back together with his ex-girlfriend, Rachel, played by Mary Stuart Masterson. Anjelica Huston, Dean Stockwell and James Earl Jones co-star.
