Gail Goodrich is a professional basketball player who played for Los Angeles Lakers, Phoenix Suns, and New Orleans Jazz. The 6-1 Goodrich was born on April 23, 1943 played college hoops in UCLA.
Goodrich was drafted by the Lakers as a territorial pick in the 1965 NBA Draft. He was kept by the Lakers in the bench for three seasons. In 1968, he was selected by the Suns in the expansion draft and played as a starter with the Suns. He was traded back to Lakers for center Mel Counts in 1970. Due to salary dispute, he play out his option in 1976 and was signed as a free agent by the New Orleans Jazz. He strained an Achilles tendon in his very first game and was back to health in 1977-78. He was voted to Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1996 solidifying the solid game he had during his prime. He joined the elite All-NBA First Team in 1974. Goodrich plunged into the real estate business when he retired from playing as a professional cager in 1979.
