  • Early Life

    Gaberiel Stefan Kapler was born in Hollywood, California on August 31, 1975. He attended Taft High School. He continued his education at Cal State Fullerton before transferring to Moorpark Community College. He was drafted in 1995 by the Detroit Tigers. He spent several seasons in the Tigers minor league affiliate where he led the South Atlantic league in hits, doubles, and extra base hits.   • Pro Career

    In 1997 Kapler appeared in 7 games for the Tigers. In 1999, he spent his first full season with the team appearing in 130 games and hitting 18 home runs and 49 runs batted in. In 1999, Kapler was traded to the Texas Rangers. He spent several seasons with the team before being traded to the Colorado Rockies.   • Retirement

    On December 12, 2006, Kapler announced that he was retiring from professional baseball. He would continue to be a coach in the minor league system. In 2007, he was the coach for the Greenville Drive, which is the minor league team for the Boston Red Sox. Kapler, however, only lasted one year coaching minor leagues before he decided he wanted to come out of retirement and play baseball again.
  • Return to the Major Leagues

    On September 20, 2007, Kapler announced that he would like to play for the 2008 baseball season. After this announcement, Kapler signed a one year contract with the Milwaukee Brewers, however, the contract was not guaranteed.
