Furla is a famous Italian brand for upscale handbags and other fashion accessories.
The company was started by Aldo Furlanetto in 1927 when he began as an accessories trader. His children then took over and expanded the business to design, produce, and distribute the luxurious accessories to international market. Although Furla has many products, it is Furla handbags that gives the brand name its fame and fortune around world.
Furla’s style can described as elegant, feminine, luxurious, but more affordable than its competitors. With price range around $225- 750, all of Furla’s products are 100% made in Italy. Such dedication to quality and reasonable price leads to the brand’s success. Paolo Fontanelli, the company’s CEO, claimed that the company has no debt and the revenue in 2008 was around €157 million, growing about 4.5 percent over the previous year.
As sign of support for young, emerging designers, Furla initiated Premio Furla Per L’Arte, Italian premier award for contemporary arts, collaborating with Franca Sozzani from the Vogue.
