Mahalo dance expert Professor Lock explains how to do the hitchhiker step of locking.
About the Hitchhiker
Hitchhiking is part of the old school part of locking, and the move is exactly what it sounds like. Imagine you're hitchhiking on the side of the road to some funky music, and you've nailed the basics of the hitchhiking move.Step 1: Sticking You Thumbs Out
You start by sticking your thumbs out first to the right four times, counting one, two, three, four as you stick your thumb out each time.You then do the same thing with the opposite hand, sticking your thumb out back and forth four times. In between these two moves be sure to throw your shoulder back to set up for the next hitchhiking move.
Step 2: Doing the Dip and Roll
Now that you've mastered the hitchhiking part and the shoulder twist, you can move on to the dip and roll. You achieve this by bending your knees slightly and leaning your torso down. You then follow it by bringing your self back up while rolling your arms together like shown in the video.
Step 3: Hopping from Foot to Foot
The final part of the hitchhiking move is hopping from your left foot to your right foot.You treat this as a sort of skip. Put your left foot forward and quickly switch it out with your right foot.
