FruCall is a free comparison shopping tool that can be accessed over the phone—by voice, text message, or mobile web.

The service was launched in April 2006, though the company existed prior to that as a software developer for corporate data networks.

In addition to consumer use, the FruCall system can be used as a data-search tool for private companies, providing access to selected users.

All searches made on the system are stored permanently. If you were to dial in later you can just check your search history to see products you are interested in. Search archive is completed automatically and there is no need for the user to bookmark their searches.

Consumers can use FruCall to check prices, as well as purchase merchandise, in one of three ways: by calling 1-800-DO-FRUCALL, texting FRU11, or accessing www.frucall.com/m. Price comparisons are accessed via the product's ISBN number, barcode, or make and model. The service is free for users—the company's revenue comes from targeted advertising.

Frucall keeps a complete record of all searches, so anything you have searched for will appear in your search history. There is no need to bookmark searches, this is completed automatically.

There are three methods of accessing the Frucall service. All service sign-up are free these are:

• Voice: Dial 888-DO-FRUCALL (888-363-7822) and enter product ISBN or bar code number. With the Frucall Voice service users can easily check prices immediately just by making a telephone call.

• Text: Send barcode, ISBN, or make and model of the product to FRU11 (37811).http://www.frucall.com/jsp/frucall-text.jsp Frucall Text enables users to perform simple product searches via a 2-way Text Messaging (SMS) service. Frucall Text represents an easy to use and fast method to gain access to and compare the "on-line" prices of products.
