• Originally aired in 1992
    • Network: CBS
    • Starring: John Goodman, Jonathan Winters and Elisabeth Moss
    • Location: "Beansboro" is a take on Boston, Massachusetts
    • Was more politically correct than other classic Christmas specials, using terms like "winter carnival" instead of "Christmas celebration"
  • The half-hour animated Christmas special Frosty Returns is often considered the sequel to the classic Frosty the Snowman holiday special from 1969 and CBS has aired it accordingly right after the original each December. However, this 1992 installment was not made by the original producers, but by Bill Melendez of Peanuts fame.

The animation differs greatly from Frosty the Snowman as well, and John Goodman was selected to voice Frosty after the original Frosty, Jackie Vernon passed away in 1987. Jonathan Winters steps into Jimmy Durante's shoes as the narrator.

  • Plot

Frosty becomes concerned for his safety after the invention of "Summer Wheeze," a product designed to melt snow on contact. Together with is friend Holly, Frosty must convince the people of the town that snow is a positive thing.
  • Review

"The reason the original Frosty worked was because it didn't try to pander to an adult audience. The reason this one fails so miserably is because, other than the animation, there's really not enough story for kids to enjoy."Need Coffee Dot Com: Frosty Returns Review
