Fried Coke is made by mixing Coca-Cola with an egg batter and deep frying it in oil. The result is usually topped with cherries, nuts or whipped cream.
History
Created by Abel Gonzales Jr., fried Coke became extremely popular at the Texas State Fair when introduced there in 2006. The high-fat, high-calorie new food/beverage was unique enough to make national headlines.
Gonzales states he does not want to patent the recipe and is hoping that better and better clones of his invention are created. After the success of fried Coke, he moved on to work on the development of fried drinks like Sprite and Diet Coke.
