Serial killer Jason Voorhees is back in a remake of the classic horror movie Friday the 13th. Murder and mayhem reign supreme once again at Camp Crystal Lake, where a machete-wielding Jason terrorizes a group of counselors at a camp for special needs children.

The new “Friday the 13th,” I’m sort of surprised to report, isn’t bad. If you’re a slasher fan, you’ll enjoy the variety of homicides on display and the jolting moments of suspense as one unsuspecting teen after another gets bumped off. This new "Friday the 13th," unquestionably savvier and snappier than the original "Friday the 13th," though just as useless, is a needed return to simplicity: An SUV of dramatically varied teens (sluts, nerdy sluts, one black guy, other sluts) visit Camp Crystal Lake. Pot is smoked. Sex is had by all. Also, topless water skiing. They are then impaled and/or burned alive.
