The French dip sandwich also known as the beef dip, is made with thinly sliced hot roast beef layered on soft French roll or baguette. Served with a small cup of au jus for dipping. The French dip has become a popular menu item and found in most diners.
History
The French dip sandwich was invented in Los Angeles California between two restaurants, Cole's Pacific Electric Buffet, and the original Philippe. The French dip was originally made by dipping the roll into the beef juices before being assembled, and served wet.
