Freespace 2

Freespace 2 is space combat simulator developed by Volition, Inc. It is the sequel to Descent FreeSpace The Great War.

In Freespace 2 the player must pilot a starfighter and destroy enemy starfighters. The game play can be compared to a dogfight simulator in space. Before each mission a player is taken to a pre-briefing stage where they learn about the upcoming objectives. With the aid of a HUD (heads up display) the player then enters a first person cockpit view for each level. Each starfighter is equipped with various weapons and defensive technologies. In addition to the single player game there are also muliplayer missions available. Players can play over a LAN network or via the Internet through Parallax Online.
