Freelines are Pralines made by Robert King Wilkerson, a member of the Black Panther Party and one of the Angola 3. He made pralines in prison while in solitary confinement. He burned paper in soda cans to cook the candies and gathered ingredients from other prisoners and guards. On February 8, 2001, Wilkerson was released from prison after serving 31 years — 29 of them in solitary confinement — at Louisiana's Angola Prison. Now free, he supports his activism by making pralines that he calls Freelines.
