History
Horoscopes are star and planetary charts of the positions of these celestial bodies at the time of a person's birth, or at the time of a given event. Those who believe in astrology think that they can provide insight into a person's destiny and character, or perhaps into the meaning of certain events. Horoscopes were initially astronomical charts of the Sun, planets, and other bodies in the visible universe. When the practice first began they were used both for scientific and technical purposes as well as a divination tool. Horoscopes followed the path of astrology when the practice split from the science of astronomy in the 17th Century.
