Taylor suffered torn ligaments in his left thumb during a December 7, 2008, game against the Chicago Bears. Prior to joining the NFL, Taylor played college football with the Florida Gators in the NCAA. He helped the Gators win the National Championship in 1996. Taylor joined the Jaguars for his professional debut in 1998, starting 12 games. He set several personal, franchise and league records that year, including the first player to record more than 40 rushing yards in three consecutive games since 1950. He has continued with the Jaguars in the years since. In August of 2008, Taylor was arrested in Miami, Florida, outside of a nightclub. He was reportedly sitting in his car outside of the club when police began searching him and his car.
