  • Making History on the Red Sox

Although Lynn debuted with the Bosox in 1974, it was his legendary 1975 season which made the young centerfielder a household name. In that year, he not only won the Rookie of the Year award and the American League Most Valuable Player Award in the same season (the only time this has ever been accomplished), he also helped lead his team to one of the most exciting World Series in baseball history. However, Lynn would be nagged by injuries throughout the 1970s, although he would still be a great hitter for average, winning the batting title in 1979.
  • Traded to Angels

In 1981, Lynn was traded to the Angels, and in 1983, he hit the only Grand Slam in All-Star game history. Lynn appeared in nine consecutive MLB All-Star Games between 1975 and 1983. In 1985, Lynn signed with the Baltimore Orioles, but injuries prevented him from ever playing a full season. He finished out his career with stint on the Detroit Tigers and San Diego Padres.
