Frantisek Kaberle

  • Frantisek Kaberle is a professional hockey player from Czechoslovakia. He is a defenseman for the Carolina Hurricanes in the National Hockey League.
  • NHL Career

    Kaberle began his career playing in the Czech Extraliga, or the Czech Elite League, with the HC Kladno in 1992. He then joined MODO Hockey in the Elitserien or Swedish Elite League in 1995. Kaberle was drafted 76th overall in the 1999 NHL Draft by the Los Angeles Kings. He made his NHL debut with the Kings the same year, splitting the season between the NHL and the Kings affiliates, the Long Beach Ice Dogs in the International Hockey League and the Lowell Lock Monsters in the American Hockey League. The following year Kaberle was traded to the Atlanta Thrashers. He played with the Thrashers for four seasons then entered the free agency. Kaberle signed with the Carolina Hurricanes in 2004, helping them win the Stanley Cup Championship in 2006.
