German film actress Franka Potente gained critical acclaim for her role as Lola in Run Lola Run. After a half decade of German roles, Potente gained Hollywood's attention playing opposite Johnny Depp in Blow and co-starring with Matt Damon in the The Bourne Identity.
Early Years
Potente studied at the Otto Falkenberg School of Performing Arts in Munich before moving to New York City to attend the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute. Her first acting roles came when she was a student in Germany, starring in several independent films.
Mainstream Roles
Potente's breakout role came in the 1998 film Run Lola Run. She continued as first love interest of George Jung (Johnny Depp) in the 2001 drug trafficking film Blow. The following year she appeared opposite Matt Damon in the highly successful thriller The Bourne Identity. She returned as her Marie character for a small part in the second Bourne film, The Bourne Supremacy in 2004. Potente has since moved back to Germany and has appeared in several local films.
