Frank Zappa was a prolific composer, guitarist, singer, and satirist whose 30 year career saw him create music in almost every genre and whose vigorous defending of free speech and anti-censorship causes made him a true "Cult" figure. Along with his backing band The Mothers of Invention, Zappa crafted over 50 albums worth of eclectic musical compositions, humorous parody songs and blistering instrumental jams. Besides his distinctive songwriting, Zappa was also an accomplished lead guitar player and is often cited as one of the premiere guitarists of his time. Frank Zappa died in 1993 of Prostate Cancer at the age of 52.
