Guitarist Frank Navetta was one of the founding members of the punk band The Descendents. Navetta formed the band with bassist Tony Lombardo and drummer Bill Stevenson in 1978. They were joined by singer Milo Aukerman in 1981.

After leaving The Descendents, Navetta moved to Oregon where he began working as a fisherman. He briefly reunited with the band in 1996 for the Everything Sucks album and again in 2002 during a performance in Colorado. Navetta passed away on October 31, 2008, from causes that were not immediately known at the time of the announcement of his passing.Pitchfork: R.I.P.
