Fracture Walkthrough - Mission 8: Washington DC Intro

This mission is just one big running street fight, as you make your way through a war-torn Washington DC, battling battalions of Pacifican troops. The end of the road--for now, at least--is Lafayette Park, where you'll battle not just standard troops and cheetahs, but the dangerous variant called the Spike Hydra. When you've taken out this powerful foe, you'll head off in search of pivotally important Generator Beams.
In the snowy ruins of Washington DC, battle a large group of enemies just ahead. Watch out for enemies high up in the buildings ahead, in addition to those on the street. If you can't get the higher enemies from a distance, you should be able to reach them by making hills. Take this area slowly and carefully, or you'll be overwhelmed from all sides. You can create your own cover in the streets.

As you move forward, watch out for more enemies on the overpass up ahead. Raise a hill, then use a spike grenade to reach the overpass. You should be able to find a sniper rifle here if you want. Continue along the walkway to the right, taking out any enemies you can from up here. When you're ready, drop down to the street below, and continue the fight there. Watch for a group of raptors to appear from the alley straight ahead. Keep a constant watch for useful weapons as you go.

When you've cleared out the area, continue up the street. Be ready for more enemies just ahead. Your marker will lead you to a bombed out building on the left. Raise a hill and double jump inside, then drop through the hole in the floor. Head around the corner, and exit the building through the hole in the wall. Fight more enemies in the alley outside. Head around the corner, and follow the street ahead. Pick up the weapon from the crate in the corner. When you reach the fence at the end of the alley, raise a hill and hop over.

Battle more enemies in the park up ahead. When you've eliminated the first wave, be ready for four cheetahs to appear. Take them out. There's a lodestone near the statue, and a raptor off to the right. Damage can mount up quickly here, so be sure to keep yourself well covered. You can stay to the outer perimeter, and keep hills between you and the cheetahs, picking away at them when you can. This may take a while, but be patient.

Once you've taken out the cheetahs, it's time to deal with a hydra, who for some reason can't be hit while he's on the spikes he raises. Destroy the spikes, and hit the hydra when you can. He'll drop spike grenade of his own, but you should be able to knock them down faster than he can generate them. Luckily, he's not too tough, once you're able to hit him. Take him out to end the mission.
