Forza Motorsport 2 is the sequel to one of the most realistic racing car sim video games, Forza Motorsport. Much like its predecessor, the game features more than 300 cars from 50 manufacturers. It also has several real-life race tracks, including Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. It's received a 90.0 average rating, according to GameRankings, making it one of the top 10 rated racing games of all time.
Gameplay
Players start off by telling the game which region they live in (North America, Europe, etc.). Depending on the region, a player is initially locked into purchasing vehicles only from that region. As players compete in races, more credits are earned, which can be used to purchase upgrades or new vehicles. The vehicles in the game are designated by class based on their quality. However, as upgrades are purchased, the vehicle can move up in class. Eventually, all regions will become available.
- Assists: Drivers can equip themselves with an assist line, which tells them when to accelerate, brake or get off the pedals. The assist line is located on the middle of a track and changes throughout the race depending on how the driver is performing. Players can opt not to have the line. However, there's a second type of assist line, which indicates only when a player should brake.
Competitive
The Championship Gaming Series, a professional video game league based in North America, chose Forza Motorsport 2 as one of its four video game titles in its 2008 league season, joining Dead or Alive 4, Counter-Strike Source and FIFA 08. Forza Motorsport 2 replaced Project Gotham Racing 3, which was used in the 2007 league season.
