The Formula One 2010 Schedule will cover nineteen weekends, running from March to November 2010. In March, the season started off with 12 teams, each with two racers, making 24 racers, in total. Participating teams are Red Bull, Ferrari, McLaren, Mercedes GP, Renault, Force India, Williams, BMW Sauber, Toro Rosso, Virgin, Lotus and HRT.
The Formula One season 2010 revisits well known circuits, like Monaco/Monte Carlo, Germany/Hockenheim, and Belgian Spa-Francorchamps, but also includes relatively new circuits like Chinese Singapore, the Yas Marina Circuit in the United Arab Emirates, and the European circuit in Valencia, Spain. With both the Spanish and European Grand Prix featuring in Spain, that country is the only one to have two Grand Prix weekends in one season.
Each Grand Prix weekend comprises of two training sessions on Friday, one training session and the qualifications on Saturday, while the actual race if scheduled for Sunday.
In 2010, a number of changes have been introduced:
- The biggest change for 2010 is season is the banning of refueling during the race. This forces racing cars to possess much bigger fuel tanks.
- The points system per race has been revamped. The winner gets 25 points, while #2 gets 18, and #3 gets 15 points. Places three to ten get 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, 2 and 1 point.
- The minimum weight of the carshas been raised from 605kg to 620kg.
- The with of the front tyres have been limited from 270mm to 245mm.
- Wheel rim covers have been banned.
- The total number of teams has been raised to twelve.
