Fordham University is a private Catholic university that grants undergraduate and graduate degrees. It is a member of the Atlantic 10 Conference.
History
In 1841, the school was founded by the Reverend John Hughes, the Diocese of New York, and opened with a student body of six people. In 1846, the New York State Legislature granted the school a charter and in 1907, the name was officially changed to Fordham University.Fordham University: About
The Campus
Fordham has two residential campuses in the Bronx and Manhattan, a commuter campus in Westchester and the Louis Calder Center in Armonk, New York.
- Rose Hill Campus - the original 85-acre campus in the Bronx
- Lincoln Center Campus - the seven-acre campus adjacent to the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts
- Westchester Campus - the graduate school satellite campus
- Louis Calder Center - a 114-acre field station with a 10-acre lake and laboratories
