  • Ford Field is an indoor sports arena in Detroit, Michigan which replaced the Pontiac Silverdome as the home stadium of the Detroit Lions in 2002. The home of the Detroit Tigers is across the street from the stadium. The naming rights to the stadium were purchased by the Ford Motor Company for $40 million, paid over 20 years.

Ford Field has hosted numerous major events including Super Bowl XL and the 2009 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament. The venue hosted 2009 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Final Four tournament on April 4, 2009, and April 6, 2009.

  • Building Design

A unique feature of the stadium is the presence of skylights and large glass windows allowing abundant amounts of natural light for an indoor stadium. The construction cost of the stadium was between $430-500 million. The stadium sits across the street from the Ford Center and shares a similar design despite being an indoor venue.

The field's design incorporates a six-story former Hudson's warehouse which stood in the same spot since the 1920s.To avoid altering the cities timeline, the field and lower level seating were built below street level.
