A remake of the 1984 film Footloose is slated for release in 2011. Footloose is the story about a city teenager, (Ren McCormack) relocating to a small town where music and dancing are illegal. Ren tries to fit in but when he starts dating the preacher's daughter and plans to hold a senior prom, he discovers there is more to the ban on dancing than he first thought. The film was fast-tracked after High School Musical 3's successful 2008 premiere.

Kenny Wormald is confirmed to play the Kevin Bacon role in the 2011 remake of the film as of June 2010. Wormald appeared in the MTV series "Dancelife." High School Musical star, Zac Efron, was originally confirmed to play the starring role.
