On June 30, 2008, Floyd Landis lost an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport over the decision that stripped his 2006 Tour de France title from him for failing a drug test. As a result Landis is barred from racing until January 29, 2009 and owes $100,000 in legal fees to the United States Anti-Doping Agency.
