A fifteen-year-old female student identified as Amanda Collette was found dead on November 11, 2008, after a shooting at Dillard High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The girl was found unresponsive in a hallway and taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead. The Incident
Around 11 a.m. on November 12, 2008, Dillard High students notified school officials that Amanda Collette was lying motionless on the floor outside a computer lab. Paramedics arrived and rushed Collette to Broward General Medical Center, where she was at first listed in critical condition with a gunshot wound to her chest. She was later pronounced dead.
Police received a call shortly after the shooting from an employee at Captain Crab's Take-Away restaurant, who said that a teenage girl was at the restaurant and that she had recently shot someone.
