Florida Institute of Technology, also known as Florida Tech, offers undergraduate and graduate degrees to over 5,000 students annually. The school's athletic teams are part of the Sunshine State Conference.

Noted Programs
The university has, since its founding, continued a strong connection with NASA, with 36% of students enrolled in the College of Engineering. The college was originally founded in 1958 as Brevard Engineering College. The name changed to its current name eight years later, in 1958. The school operated at a Jenson Beach location for 14 years, starting in 1972, then moved back to the current location in Melbourne in 1986. In 2003, the university renamed several resident halls to honor the fallen members of the Space Shuttle Columbia. An addition to the school's south campus is scheduled to open in fall of 2008.Notable Alumni
